Annual Street Fair!

Let’s give our homeless and poor neighbors a day of encouragement and fun with delicious food, play carnival games, get haircuts, manicures, receive many gifts, treats, and clothing, and praise God with a live worship band!

We need lots of volunteers for this event where an average of 400 people attends. Areas to serve are: set up, greeters, food, drinks, games, clothing, item giveaway, and clean-up.  Show up at 8 am to help set up. Stay after 2 pm to tear down and clean up.

Sponsor a booth such as haircuts, manicures, and prayers. Ideas welcomed!

Held right here at the Union Gospel Mission.

It is a ministry of love poured out by many volunteers, spilled over from the hearts of Ted & Dee Burdine who started this ministry over 21 years ago. It is such a blessing to see them mobilize the community to donate time, money and items to put together this large event.

We had the honor of presenting Ted and Dee with this year’s Good Samaritan Award. Ted and Dee have been serving the Mission for 21 years with Christmas to the Streets that have blessed the poor and the homeless community. They have decided to retire but have passed the ministry to new hands. We are very thankful for their years of dedication to the work of the Gospel!

The new facilitators, Sabrina Gonzalez and Janet Eilering organize the many details with volunteers to give haircuts, manicures, cook and serve food, collect and sort clothing, create gift bags, face painting, carnival games, raffle prizes, a prayer booth, and any other great idea people were willing to do and bring! Of course, given with all the prayer and love that comes with serving the Lord! If you are interested in serving in any capacity please contact Eileen or Jed at (916)447-3268 or info@ugmsac.com

    Good Mornings
My daughters and I would like be volunteers..Also do you ,or know any resources on thanks giving basket as well even any holiday relief for my 5 children

    • If it were “regular” times, I would have a lot more opportunities to discuss with you, however, this pandemic has caused us to make a lot of modifications that have inhibited our services and with volunteers.

So we are sorry we have no opportunities this year. We will have sign-ups for Christmas Food baskets starting tomorrow at 8:00 am. You will need to call to sign up. Leaving a voice mail will not work. Keep calling till you get through.
