December Updates

Many guests were blessed at this year’s Thanksgiving Dinner Banquet! Each guest had a wonderful, hearty meal with all of the traditional Thanksgiving fixings. We also had a wonderful group of volunteers come to decorate and serve our guests. It was a fun, blessed night! God is so good to us!

On Monday, November 21st, we gave out around 100 Thanksgiving Food Boxes to families and seniors in need. We are blessed by wonderful donors to give each family a turkey and all the fixings for a bountiful holiday meal. Each recipient attended a chapel service led by Chaplain Tom Mooney, sharing God’s goodness and our Rehabilitation Program men singing carols. Our food boxes were then distributed with big smiles and care.

Did you miss your opportunity to sign up for a Thanksgiving food box? Not to worry! We are taking sign-ups for our Christmas food box through December 19. A BIG congratulations to our newest graduate, David!

David was once a lost man, overcome by a life of sin and addiction, and eventually became homeless. When he was stranded in a parking lot with nothing but the clothes on his back (that didn’t even fit), he was urged to start walking. He ended up finding a mental health facility, where he made the decision to change his life. Three weeks later, he joined the Union Gospel Mission’s Men’s Rehabilitation Program, where he received the Word of God with biblical counsel. He realized how God had helped him and was with him all along. Once David surrendered to God, he worked diligently over the past nine months to complete his program, and now he is looking forward to a new life in Christ with great hope.  Praise God!

The Women’s Clothes Closet is currently being renovated and should be done the week prior to Christmas! As of January 10, we will have it open TWO days a week—Tuesdays & Thursdays!  We are in need of women volunteers on Mondays & Tuesdays. Click Here to learn how to apply!

Starting in the new year, we will be renovating the Chapel and Dining Rooms.  We have been running a Gift Matching Program to help raise funds and will continue through the end of the year. Click Here to visit our UGM Renovation Project page!
