Happy 60th Birthday UGM!

Summer Updates

On July 6, 1962, the Union Gospel Mission was officially incorporated and has long since served the homeless and less fortunate of the greater Sacramento communities. This month we celebrate 60 years of the life-changing work that God has done through our ministry. And, praise God for your faithful support with the continued development of the Mission to keep this vital ministry going!

Summer Banquet Fun!

In June we had a wonderful evening celebrating our Heavenly Father’s perfect love at the Father’s Day Dinner Banquet! Thank you to our regular church group and extra volunteers who helped decorate and serve our guests with kindness, compassion, and love. And, we thank all our donors for their generous contributions to making these events happen!

Our Independence Day Dinner Banquet was abundantly blessed with all of our guests and volunteers! The joy was contagious bringing in extra treats and fun!

Our next banquet is our Annual Birthday Party for our guests on August 18th from 7:00 pm to 9:15 pm! Click below for information and a schedule of other events.

Volunteer With Us

New UGM Staff!

We would like to welcome our two newest employees warmly, Marissa Johnson and Micah Jarvis!

Marissa came on board in May as the Development Department Assistant, bringing with her a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and over ten years of administrative experience. She came to know UGM through her church, volunteering with their worship team for the Mission’s evening chapel service.  She now helps lead worship for the staff and program men in our Friday morning chapel service.

Micah joined UGM in June as an intern under one of our chaplains, but after only a couple of weeks, he was offered a job with the Development Department as the Office Clerk. He also teaches a weekly class to the men in our rehabilitation program. He brings with him a certificate in Hermeneutics from Bible college and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Theology.  And, he’s Marissa’s partner leading worship on Friday mornings.

We are truly grateful for all of the UGM Staff that God has put together!

Friday Morning Chapel!

Did you know that the UGM staff and men in our Rehabilitation Program join together every Friday morning for Chapel Service?!

It is vital for us to stay centered on Christ in all that we do together – in worship through prayer and His Word!

We first meet at 7 am for breakfast, thanks to our great Cook and Kitchen Manager, Tim Trenum, who also teaches men hard work and culinary skills for future occupational opportunities.

We then worship the Lord together with praise.  We have a rotation of pastors, including our Executive Director, Tim Lane, who gives us a gospel-centered message.

Psalm 103:1-6  Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The LORD works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.
