With cold weather upon us, our guest Audrey Elizabeth reflects on her days of living on the Sacramento streets. “It was so cold and lonely. I felt abandoned, and I was really hungry. It was terrifying, and everywhere you go you are vulnerable. Everyone wants something from you, and you have nothing to give.” Audrey struggled with drug addiction, a battle that began under the weight of peer pressure. She deeply regrets starting her journey with meth, a drug that gripped her in immediate addiction.
Coming to the Mission, she found food and acceptance. “The Mission picked me up, GRACE picked me up, right where I was, and it found me.” Audrey is preparing to graduate from a women’s rehabilitation program and is looking forward to reconnecting with her family who welcomes her with open arms. “Thank you, donors, for helping give me a gentle nudge in the right direction.”
Recently, Audrey was gifted a bike! This simple but powerful gift provides her with a new level of freedom, helping her get to important appointments, run errands, and reconnect with family as she prepares to graduate from her rehabilitation program.
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18
