The Union Gospel Mission is a 501 (c) (3) voluntary Christian organization, Federal Tax ID No. 94-6103618, operating without tax or government support of any kind; funded entirely by generous donations of individuals and organizations in the community. The Mission provides ministry services, 365 days a year, with a life-changing Gospel message to the homeless and to those that are struggling in Sacramento. None of the items, food, and services provided by the Mission requires payment of any kind. To give to the Mission is to be part of a Christ-centered, 365-day operation in helping people rebuild lives – physically, emotionally, and spiritually!

How Your Donations Help Our Mission

Many people think that the Union Gospel Mission is just a soup kitchen. It is much more; it is a place where the caring generosity of people like yourself makes a difference.

Every month, we serve thousands of meals. As many as 84 men sleep at the mission nightly, safe from the streets’ heat, cold, and dangers. Seven days a week, a person can get fresh clothing and a place to shower. They can get deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, shaving cream, razors, and most importantly, a restored sense of dignity and self-worth.

During the “winter months,” we open our warming center for anyone to come in out of the diverse weather from November 1 to the middle of March, seven days a week, from 10 PM to 5 PM.

We supply food baskets to families that may be working but come up short at the end of the month. The mission has special banquets for our guests on Father’s Day and other holidays. We give a birthday party each year for those who may not have had one on their birthdays. We have a new woman’s clothes closet that supplies the needs of homeless women and the working poor.

To give to the mission is to have the opportunity to be a part of the rehabilitation we provide to all men wanting to escape the endless cycle of drugs and alcohol. Counseling, prayer, and Biblical studies inspire men to make a meaningful change in their lives and again contribute to society.

More than a soup kitchen, the Union Gospel Mission is where your help can make a miracle happen!
