Year in Review Part 1

A word from our Executive Director, Pastor Tim Lane

2020 was a year that turned the life we know into a time we never expected! For many of us, it was a time of fear, loss, sickness, and pain! In August my wife of 47 years went home to be with the Lord. For her, it would be a release from the MS that had changed her life to a time of celebration being united with the Lord that she loved. I was in the hospital with Covid and am grateful to have recovered, but it has been a time of sadness and change for me as well. The Mission was hit hard with men in the Rehab. Program and staff contracting the virus, including one who is currently getting better as I write this.

Our Chaplain, Pastor Tom Mooney’s wife, passed away from cancer only a month later.  I must say that we are all supporting each other through His Word… Romans 12:15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.  There are two words in the bible we need to always remember, “But God”!  He holds us up, guides us, and will lead us home through His grace!

It was hard to keep up with the ever-changing rules. We went from volunteers serving ~150 hot, bountiful meals in our Dining Room every night to having no volunteers and our staff and rehab. program men serving on the porch.

We found ways to continue our services with food, mail delivery, showers, and handing out many needed items. We had 12 men graduate from our Rehabilitation Program!  We are updating our facilities and look forward to one day showing you some really great improvements.

It hurt to cease our chapel services and we pray for His guidance. We set up a big-screen TV for the Gospel to be heard and hope our church groups will return again soon.

You, our donors, kept us going in these unprecedented times with your donations and prayers, and we are truly grateful for your continued partnership with this Mission!

Feeding the homeless

Feeding the Homeless

Last year brought all of us many challenges but for our guests, hunger was not one of them. Because of your faithful prayers and support we have been able to continue to feed hot, nutritious, and delicious meals to-go with extra care packages. No one knows what 2021 has in store, but with God’s grace, we will carry on the work all in the name of Christ!

Food Boxes for Families and Seniors

Thanks to your donations, we have continued with our twice-weekly food box giveaways.  We, also, handed out 100-holiday boxes of turkeys with all the traditional fixings, cases of tuna, vegetables, and other items for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  We will be doing the same for Easter too.

Many Items Received and Given Away

A big thanks to our donors who continue to bring us donations of many needed items!  Even in a time of a pandemic, people have hearts to serve through giving.
We accept donations 7 days a week, 8 am – 8 pm.  Go to https://ugmsac.com/items-needed/ for our current needs.
