Staying Busy During This Difficult Time
There is no doubt we are in unprecedented times. The COVID-19 pandemic has made life challenging for the Mission and all our guests. But with your prayers and support, we always have confidence in our mighty God’s work.
Much Needed Upgrades
We needed to make room to socially distance the residents of our Men’s Rehabilitation Program and that gave us the opportunity to get some remodeling done. We’ve been cleaning up and replacing dry rot in the front building, giving it a fresh paint job. Extensive remodeling is being done to the upstairs dorm rooms and the downstairs family room for our Men’s Rehabilitation Program.
The Sacramento Union Gospel Mission has been existent since 1962 and is in constant use 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, servicing many people 365 days a year. We are grateful to have a nice facility and, prayerfully, for many years to come! Because we do not take government funding, we are so very thankful for your support!
We ran into some challenges in the project, but with a lot of sweat and hard work, we are getting it done.

We are still feeding almost 100 people every day
Feeding our guests nightly may look a little different these days. The one thing that is the same is the smiles behind the masks of those that come and get meals every night! Through your continued prayers and support we will get through this pandemic.
Our Men’s Rehabilitation Program is Staying Busy
Another positive thing to report during this time is the success of some of our residents on our Men’s Rehabilitation Program.
Tim is Advancing
Recently Tim made it to “Blue Badge” which is the final phase of the program. Please pray for him and the men as they struggle with leaving a life of addiction and learning a whole new life in Christ, especially during this difficult season.
Brian is Making Progress
A past Graduate and came back for more growth. Brian has found a new purpose in Christ and is getting his GED. He said to us the other day, “I am learning to learn all over again”. Please pray that this will lead him to a productive and fulfilling future.
Jay is Thriving
A recent Graduate of our Men’s Rehabilitation Program shared his testimony with us. He said, “I am no longer confused at what the meaning of my life is” and “My heart belongs to God and my faith is in Christ Jesus alone”. Stay tuned for his great story.
Do You Know Someone Who Needs Help?
Do you know anyone that is struggling with addiction? Our Men’s Rehabilitation Program is now accepting new candidates with the following requirements:
- COVID-19 Clearance within two days of an interview at UGM and a current TB Clearance.
- Must be able to join the program and stay for the entire 9 months.
- Interviews are Monday – Thursday, 10 – 11 am or 1 – 2 pm.
This program is free, nine months, in-house, and Christ-centered.
