On Thursdays, I get to volunteer at Union Gospel Mission in Sacramento. I look forward to it each week; it fills up my heart. I serve in the women’s clothing closet with a group of amazing women who love Jesus. We share Jesus with ladies who live on the streets, in shelters, or are low-income. We start with snacks and some chapel time, and then the ladies get to shop for free in the clothes closet. It’s set up like a women’s boutique filled with donations. We have also started a shower ministry for the women on the streets. God is so good, and I’m so thankful I have time to do this.

It’s such a joy to work alongside other volunteers who have the same focus on Jesus and serving Him. Together, we just want to allow the light of Christ to shine through us. I thank God for using me as His servant. Even more, I thank God for showing His love to others who are so desperate, not just for physical things, but for spiritual things.

As a volunteer I get to show Christ’s love that women may be missing in their life. Knowing that God can make such a difference in every life, He strengthens my faith, and it gives hope to the women. Our goal is that the women leave the mission feeling more hopeful with their spirit lifted up, and many of them do. The Lord is using us as volunteers through our actions and our words. We are planting seeds that will lead them to Christ with the help of the Holy Spirit.
